About the Event
While the Covid-19 pandemic might still be raging and the war in Ukraine is dominating the headlines, one of the most dramatic, but oftentimes publicly neglected topics of this century will be climate change and global warming – or more specifically, how we as human beings will tackle this challenge and negotiate its ramifications. Climate change is not only about the weather- it is about welfare, about safety, about peace, and about the option for a future that we can live with. It is about us, our current and future family, about our community, the city and nation we live in. While the individual challenges tied to climate change might seem overwhelming, technology and digitalization provide a pivotal potential for meeting the demands of our environment for a sustainable and livable future. This is what this year’s edition of the Amerikahaus hackathon will be all about.
Join us here in our official announcement of the hackathon and the opening of the registration for participation. In this virtual kickoff-event we will introduce the topics of our hackathon, how you can participate, what opportunities you will have to win a prize, and most importantly - why you should be part of this hackathon.
Furthermore, our partner Earth Hacks will help us understand the core concepts of environmental innovation. Earth Hacks' executive director Sanjana Paul will discuss the necessity of responsible innovation in the context of the climate crisis, and how the collaboration, community, and energy of hackathons have a role to play.
