The Sexualised Violence of Hamas on 7 October 2023 in Israel and the Silence of the World – Film Screening and Talk

Monday, March 18, 2024, 7 p.m.

Trigger warning:
The documentary #NOVA is based on real video clips and text messages and shows physical, psychological and sexualized violence. The scenes can be disturbing at times.

On the occasion of World Women's Month in March 2024, Amerikahaus is showing the Israeli documentary #NOVA (54 min., Hebrew with English subtitles), which gives a very intimate insight into the brutal massacre by Hamas at the Supernova music festival on 7 October 2023 near the Gaza Strip.

Girls and women in particular experienced unimaginable violence on that day.

Director Dan Pe'er deals with the trauma on an individual and collective level by giving the victims and survivors a voice with the help of real mobile phone videos, phone calls and text messages.

The film screening is followed by a conversation on on the topic of "Sexualized violence against women in Israel on 7 October" between the freelance journalist, reporter and presenter for Bayerischer Rundfunk/ARD, Ilanit Spinner, Dr. Julie Grimmeisen, Advisor for Jewish Life in Bavaria and Israel - Anti-Semitism Commissioner of the Bavarian State Government, and Maryam Giyahchi. We look forward to seeing you there.

The event is supported by the Consulate General of the State of Israel to Southern Germany in Munich, the Stadtbund Münchner Frauenverbände, the European Janusz Korczak Academy and the German-Israeli Society in Munich.
