Our Library

Our Research Center focuses mainly on providing services to teachers and students in secondary education settings. Over the years, we have specialized our offerings for this particular audience in three main categories:
    — Events (teacher seminars, master classes for students, bookable group events and more)
    — Lesson materials on North America for lesson planning
    — Research resources especially geared toward pre-university students and educators.

Aside from these main focus areas, all visitors are most welcome in our Research Center. That also goes for our library users generally interested in getting information about North America in our print materials and digital resources. Maybe you are fascinated by a specific U.S. or Canadian topic and want to find out more – our experienced team in the Research Center can help you find the answers you are looking for.

If you are a teacher preparing lesson plans about North America, we will happily prepare your workspace in our Research Center accordingly – with a bibliography, a large selection of books, current articles and more. When you write us to set up an appointment, explain briefly about your topic, lesson planning goals, and even which citation styles you want to use. We will get back to you shortly and prepare the materials here in the Amerikahaus accordingly. For more information about how we assist teachers, please have a look at our German page by clicking "DE" at the top of this page.

If you are interested in a specialized discussion ahead of your W- or P-Seminar, please contact us at bibliothek@amerikahaus.de for an appointment.

Would you like to book a time for your W- or P-Seminar to visit our Research Center? Have a look under "Recherche-Workshops" for all information about our free research workshops (description in German).
