We are looking forward to welcoming you to Amerikahaus. 

Visiting our exhibitions and events is currently possible for everyone; a COVID-test result is not required. Wearing a mask (medical or FFP2) at Amerikahaus is currently not mandatory, but we still recommend it in order to protect your health and the health of other visitors and staff. Depending on which area of the Amerikahaus you wish to visit, please click here and read the instructions and information for the specific area.

Please refrain from visiting if you feel unwell or have cold or flu-like symptoms.

Service

The main task of the Amerikahaus – Bavarian Center for Transatlantic Relations is to inform the public, especially younger generations, about the importance of the transatlantic relations between Bavaria and North America. We offer a wide range of programs and services. Learn more about our work below.

Events, Workshops, and More

In addition to exhibitions, concerts, lectures, panel discussions and readings, conferences and film screenings take place in our house on a regular basis. For teenagers and young adults we offer prep courses for the English Abitur Exam, challenges, and events such as our Hackathon or our TechCamps. Take a look at our English-language book club, the Literary Circle, or take part in our teacher seminars or student master classes.

Are you looking for special programs and events for your school group? The Amerikahaus offers a number of programs which have been tailored to school groups, and nearly all of them are offered free of charge. Learn more about our offers for school groups here.

If you cannot easily visit us in person, we offer a variety of free, digital services to students and general Amerikahaus guests

Research Services

In our Research Center – formerly Information & Research, Library – we support your research projects about North America, either digitally or in person. During our online research consultations, we provide you with personalized assistance with your research, citation, and writing needs. We also offer a temporary guest login for some of our databases and online periodicals, such as JSTOR, Lexis-Nexis, Gale Academic OneFile or the American History Online Database. You can book a free research workshop for your course with us. If you are in the process of planning a course on North America, we also offer various teacher seminars

Proctoring

The Amerikahaus offers proctoring services for students enrolled in distance learning programs at North American colleges or universities.

Stipends and Fellowships

Our Bavarian American Academy awards fellowships for young academics at Bavarian universities and supports research stays at top American universities and research institutions. Learn more about current stipends and fellowships as well as the annual Summer Academy for graduates and postdocs.
