Bavarian Library of Congress Fellowship

John W. Kluge Center at Library of Congress, Washington DC
Sponsored by Bavarian State Chancellery
€9,500 Grant, Summer/Fall 2025

The Bavarian American Academy, the John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress, and the Bavarian State Chancellery invite scholars to apply for one graduate research fellowship for five to six months.

The purpose of this fellowship is to bring advanced graduate students from Bavarian universities to conduct independent research using the collections of the Library of Congress. During the research stay, the library will provide work space, facilitate access to the collections and databases, and establish contacts to the curators of the Library. The Bavarian Fellow will be supported with all services offered to Fellows at the junior level in residence at the John W. Kluge Center of the Library of Congress.

The fellow will be awarded the grant for travel and accommodation costs. Organizational help for visa, housing etc. will be provided. After the research stay, fellows need to submit a short report to the BAA. Read here what some of our fellows say about their experience.
