International Summer Academy of the Bavarian American Academy
The Bavarian American Academy regularly organizes international and interdisciplinary Summer Academies, interchangeably at universities in Bavaria and the United States. The first Summer Academy took place in 2009.
Participation is open to doctoral researchers and junior faculty in American Studies and related disciplines. Selected participants have to pay a small fee. The BAA subsidizes transatlantic travel costs and covers accommodation expenses as well as costs for the academic and cultural program.
The BAA Summer Academy 2025 focuses on “North American Narratives of Crisis and Repair, Past and Present.” It takes place from July 16 to 23, 2025, in Berkeley, CA. It is organized by the BAA in cooperation with the German Historical Institute Washington and its Pacific Office at UC Berkeley. The application deadline is Saturday, February 15, 2025.
