The Future Role of the Bundeswehr for the Global Security System in View of NATO's Strategic Concept – Chances and Challenges from a European Perspective

Saturday, February 17, 2024, 11:30 a.m. (CET)

War in Ukraine, Zeitenwende, the National Security Strategy in Germany and NATO enlargement to include Sweden and Finland. For almost two years now, the global, European and alliance-oriented as well as national security architecture has been in a state of transition. What role can and should Germany and the Bundeswehr play here? In our event, we want to talk to actors about how cooperation has changed and will change in the future in order to meet the new challenges. In this context, the role of the Bundeswehr as a cornerstone of the German security architecture deserves special attention. In addition to returning to the classic tasks of national and alliance defense, it is also necessary to prepare for new threats. During the event, we would therefore like to discuss with our guests and the audience the question of the future role of the Bundeswehr in Germany's and Europe's defence and the influence of NATOs strategic concept.
