Evaluating Germany’s Readiness for Global Geo-Economic Leadership

Saturday, February 17, 2024, 9:30 a.m. (CET)

The current geopolitical and economic situation is tense and poses significant challenges for the German government and its allies. In addition to issues such as de-risking and the consequences of globalization for world trade, security and resilience of the economy are playing an increasingly important role. This inevitably raises the question of whether Germany is ready to assume strategic leadership as a global player.

Together with experts and political decision-makers from various fields, we want to discuss the opportunities of global partnerships, but also the risks of dependencies and rivalries. The aim is to analyze Germany's current position and debate how it can proactively shape a path of action for it's future as a geo-economic leader.

Panelists:
Ricarda Lang, Member of the German Bundestag, Co-leader of the Alliance 90/The Greens
Antje Gerstein, Managing Director of the German Trade Association for Sustainability and European policy
Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Germany
Guntram Wolff, CEO DGAP

Moderator:
Maximilian Keller, Young DGAP
