On November 3, 2020, the U.S. presidential and congressional elections and their outcome will have a profound impact on where the United States will be heading in the future. Who are the most promising Democratic contenders to challenge President Trump? What are the potential nominees and the incumbent’s chances? How will they manage to bridge the partisan divide and overcome the nation’s increasing polarization? What role will the media and, specifically, social media play?

John Nichols, a pioneering political blogger, contributes to The Nation as its national-affairs correspondent. His posts have been cited internationally, quoted in numerous books, and mentioned in debates on the floor of Congress.
