Raise your Own Voice - 2
Poetry Slam Workshop for everyone between the ages 12-15 / Entrance Fee €15
A hands-on introduction to contemporary performance poetry: beginning with the Nuyorican Poets` Cafe in New York City to the early days of Poetry Slam in Chicago, all the way to the topics of Slam Poetry in the US today; often, American Performance Poets write about the experience of minorities living in North America.
There is a strong focus on the delivery in American Performance Poetry; we will profit from this approach through exercises that help with speaking in front of a group, expressing yourself, and listening. There will be time to write your own pieces in English and it will be possible to perform your own texts in this workshop in front of the class.
You will practice your English conversation skills, gain more assertiveness in speaking in front of others, and you will be inspired to write your own poems. The experience of raising your own voice will prepare you for all kinds of stages, including class presentations, and public speaking in general.
