Academic research stay: travel stipend for project on postwar journals

Our Bavarian American Academy and the American-German Business Club (AGBC Munich Chapter) are happy to give an update on the recipient of the 2020 year’s travel stipend in the amount of €1,500. The grant went to Dr. des. Anna Axtner-Borsutzky (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München). Her former dissertation and now postdoc project on postwar journals and the transatlantic contribution they had to the intellectual situation in Germany from 1945 to 1949 has deeply impressed the jury.

Dr. des. Axtner-Borsutzky’s work tackles the historical, international, artful, and political aspects of postwar journals as an indicator of the reeducation process. She plans to visit the German Historical Institute and the Library of National Congress in Washington D.C. as well as the Hermann Broch Archive at Yale in fall 2021 or spring 2022 for further research and to foster academic exchange on site.

The American-German Business Club, the BAA board, and director, Prof. Dr. Heike Paul, hope that Dr. des. Anna Axtner-Borsutzky will soon be able to travel and that she will have an interesting and fruitful stay.
