Munich International Film Festival @Amerikahaus

Friday, June 28, to Sunday, July 07, 2024

At the end of June, the curtain will rise for the 41st Munich International Film Festival (from Friday, June 28, to Sunday, July 7, 2024) – and the Amerikahaus is the Festival Center for the third time.

The Amerikahaus's garden will be the home to the film festival's visitor lounge, where people can gather in a relaxed atmosphere under airy tents and celebrate the summertime and film industry. Film screenings and most of the events comprising the FilmTalk series will also take place on site. The FilmTalk discussion series is a dialogue format that enables the direct exchange between audiences and filmmakers whose works are celebrating their German premiere, international premiere, or even world premiere at the Munich International Film Festival.

Tickets for all festival films and events can also be purchased at the box office in the Amerikahaus. Online pre-sales in the film festival's ticket webshop will start shortly.

We are looking forward to exciting discussions, thrilling films, and a lively festival!

The Amerikahaus was the Festival Center of the Munich International Film Festival for the first time in 2022. There were many memorable film screenings, including the world premiere of Paloma, and a lively festival atmosphere. Numerous international directors, producers, and actors took to our stages in the Amerikahaus Theater and Karolinensaal for the "Filmmakers Live!" talks. For example, the legendary directors Doris Dörrie and Rosa von Praunheim and the actresses Anke Engelke and Lily Gladstone were guests at the Amerikahaus.

One year later, the world premiere of The Return from the Other Planet took place in the Amerikahaus Festival Center at the Munich International Film Festival 2023, and prominent guests in the "Filmmakers Live!" series included acting icons such as Senta Berger, Timothy Spall, and Barbara Sukowa and well-known directors Stephen Frears and Mary Harron.
