About the Film
For years, the Düsseldorf City Museum struggled to organize an exhibition in honor of Jewish art dealer Max Stern. Planned for 2018, it was not held until 2021, having been delayed by discussions about the restitution of art looted by the Nazis. At the crux of it all: paintings owned by Stern, which director Jamie Kastner depicts as symptomatic of a crisis in the art world. An at times ironic documentary about ownership, history, and morality.
After the screening, a Q&A with the director Jamie Kastner will take place.
