In November 2016, Donald Trump upset expectations by winning a narrow victory over Hillary Clinton. He is easily the most controversial candidate to win the presidency in recent memory, running on an anti-establishment, right-wing populist platform with radical political proposals and harsh rhetoric against minorities. After nearly three years in the White House, how much of his radical campaign rhetoric did he try to turn into actual policy and how much success did he have? What challenges does the president face in terms of congressional politics, the economy, foreign policy and a deeply divided American society? What is the situation of the opposition, the Democratic party? This talk will address these issues and also provide comic relief through caricatures and satirical videos.
