Fellowship Program of the Bavarian American Academy

The Bavarian America Academy awards fellowships for young scientists at Bavarian universities and supports research stays at top American universities and research institutions.

 

The fellowship will be awarded regardless of wether a stay in the US is possible in 2021. It is very important to the Bavarian American Academy and its sponsors to support the next generation of scholars during the COVID-19 crisis.

 

 

Bavarian Library of Congress Fellowship

John W. Kluge Center der Library of Congress, Washington DC
Sponsored by Bavarian State Chancellery
9,500 Euro Grant, Fall 2021

 

Stipend of the Bavarian American Academy with the John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress with 9.500 € for the year Jahr 2021. The fellowship includes a stay in Washington of 5-6 months, a workplace at the John W. Kluge Center, assistance with research from the staff of the center, and access to all archives of the Library of Congress.

Two Harvard University Post-Graduate Research Fellowships

Harvard University, Cambridge, MA
Sponsored by Harvard Club München e.V.
4,000 Euro Grant, Summer-Fall 2021

 

The two research grants include library access at Harvard and local contacts. The Harvard Club Munich finances the research work of two fellows with 4,000 Euro each. This sum can be used variably for travel or accommodation costs. Depending on the travel period, the fellowship provides for a stay in the USA of 2 to 3 months. After the fellowship, a short report must be submitted to the BAA.

Duke University Post-Graduate Research Fellowship

Duke University, Durham, NC; Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in the Social Sciences (REGSS)
Sponsored by Bavarian American Academy (BAA)
2,000 Euro Grant, Summer-Fall 2021

 

Library access is available during the fellowship. Local contacts provide help with current research questions and offer opportunities for discussion. The Duke Club of Germany e.V. supports scientific research with 2,000 Euro. This sum can be used for travel or accommodation costs. The exact travel period is coordinated with Professor Kerry Haynie in the Department of Political Science. After the fellowship, a short report must be submitted to the BAA.

Yale University Post-Graduate Research Fellowship

Yale University, New Haven, CT; Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition
Sponsored by The Yale Club of Germany, e.V.
2,000 Euro Grant, Summer-Fall 2021

 

This fellowship includes intensive participation at the Gilder Lehrman Center during the time on site. You will work closely with professors at the center. In addition, access to all libraries in Yale is provided. The Yale Club of Germany supports the fellowship with 2,000 Euros. This sum can be used for travel or accommodation costs. The exact travel period will be coordinated with Professor David Blight at the Gilder Lehrman Center. After the fellowship, a short report must be submitted to the BAA.
