A reversal of the trend in security threats to the Federal Republic was already evident before the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine. In the coalition agreement, the governing coalition therefore presented the need for a national security strategy as early as 2021.The special feature of this document is its nationwide character, which is intended to ensure Germany's resilience and security in the future. The threats and challenges are greater than ever and require a debate about the tasks and functions of the actors in this field. In this context, the role of the Bundeswehr as a cornerstone of the German security architecture deserves special attention. In addition to returning to the classic tasks of national and alliance defense, it is also necessary to prepare for new threats, such as those from cyberspace. During the event, we would therefore like to discuss with our guests and the audience the question of the future role of the Bundeswehr in Germany's security and what influence the national security strategy will have on this.
