Endangered Democracies: Rethinking Stability and Cooperation through Transatlantic Values

Saturday, February 18, 2023, 3:30 p.m.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the attack on Paul Pelosi mark the latest of many challenges to democratic values and international cooperation ranging from international conflict to the rise of domestic anti-democratic forces. These dangers to democracy necessitate a renewed discussion regarding possible measures to secure democratic stability and international peace. While such a discussion inevitably requires action by policymakers, the process to determine this action benefits from the engagement of all societal groups and their perspectives. To build a foundation for dialogue, this roundtable discussion will bring together security professionals and university students to identify the specific dangers as well as the opportunities they present to shape the world into a more secure and peaceful place.
