The volume critically addresses the topics, processes, and problems of transatlantic relations from a multidisciplinary angle, and marked by the COVID-19-pandemic.

It thematizes the political, economic, and cultural dimensions from the seventeenth century to today and reflects them in categories of order and disorder, cooperation and conflict, convergence and divergence to get a deeper understanding of the present critical state of transatlantic relations.

Jürgen Gebhardt is professor emeritus of Political Science at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and longterm member of the board of the Bavarian American Academy. His fields of interests are the history of political thought, systematic political theory, and comparative political science as well as liberalism, republicanism, civil religion, and constitutional hermeneutics.

Stefan Fröhlich is professor of International Politics and Political Economy at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). His work primarily focuses on EU foreign and security policy, transatlantic relations, German foreign and security policy, and international political economy.

Barbara Hahn is professor and chair of Economic Geography at the University of Würzburg and former director of the Bavarian American Academy. Her research interest is on urban geography, geographical trade, German Business in the United States, and retail globalization.

Stefan Schirm is professor and chair of International Politics at Ruhr-University Bochum. His research interests focus on Global Economic Governance, international Political Economy and Globalization.

Stephan Sattler is Senior Editor and Editor-at-large at the Burda publishing house. He studied political science, philosophy, and history at the University of Munich.
