In November 2016, Donald Trump upset expectations by winning a narrow victory over Hillary Clinton. He is easily the most controversial candidate to win the presidency in recent memory, running on an anti-establishment, right-wing populist platform with radical political proposals and harsh rhetoric against minorities.
How did this anti-politician win the presidency? How much of his radical campaign rhetoric will he try to turn into actual policy and what are his chances of doing so? What challenges will the new president face in terms of congressional politics, the economy, foreign policy and a deeply divided American society?
This talk will address these issues and also provide comic relief through caricatures and satirical videos.
