Education and Exchange The Department of Education and Exchange at Amerika Haus Munich specializes in providing information to high school and university students, as well as their teachers and parents, as well as all others interested in being more than just tourists in the U.S. or in Canada. As a neutral information center not affiliated with any one program provider or school, we can answer questions about a vast number of programs offered by different organisations, and provide accurate, unbiased information about all accredited U.S. higher education institutions. North American College or University We look forward to your visit! Services for Students Wanting to Study in the U.S. or Canada Informational sessions Attend one of numerous talks on the many opportunities available in the United States and Canada, and rely on our extensive experience with various exchange programs, not just at our regular in-house presentations, but also at our outreach events elsewhere. We also frequently host special presentations from program representatives, so you can learn about programs directly from the source. Reference material on North American educational and exchange programs Our department also provides an extensive collection of informational material, so that you can explore the many programs offered in North America. We have hundreds of professional reference books on American and Canadian colleges and universities, schools, and other exchange opportunities, that you can use free of charge. Information sheets We have researched and compiled many German language information sheets. They contain useful tips, contact information on organisations, and answer frequently asked questions. See our German site for more. [back]Individual advising No appointment necessary. Call us, e-mail us, or just come by during our Thursday and Friday afternoon (1pm to 5pm) advising hours. [back]Information on standardized admissions tests and language courses Our library holds a collection of test preparation software and literature available to use free of charge, so you can be ready for the most common admissions and skills tests: We offer various courses, including professional English and test preparation classes. [back]Application Checkup The style, structure and content of study proposals, CVs, letters, and resumes for a study and/or internship in the US or Canada differ greatly from those common in Germany . When you send out your application to an employer, university, or scholarship foundation in North America, it should be flawless. We employ highly qualified English and French language native speakers who thoroughly check your applications for spelling and grammatical mistakes, and offer valuable tips on how to make its contents and style look North American. If you have an application you would like proofed, mail it to us along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Your application will be returned within two weeks. (In urgent cases, please contact us by telephone to make special arrangements.) The charge for this service is EUR 20 (tax included), payable upon receipt of our bill. TOEIC® exam TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication) is the most widely accepted skills test for business English. To learn more about its content, see TOEIC® Europe. The TOEIC® exam is regularly offered at Amerika Haus. Pre-registration before the exam is mandatory. If you have already missed the registration deadline for the test you would like to take, or need more information, contact the administering test center: TOEIC® Test Center Registration fee: EUR 105 (tax included). Visa Information The Amerika Haus is not an official information source for U.S. or Canadian visa information. However, we can help you with where to turn for visa inquiries. We also host frequent visa Q&A sessions in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate in Munich - check our calendar of events for upcoming sessions. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has information on scholarships. Services for North American Colleges andUniversities To book a venue for your college presentation, see our "Hosting Your Event" page. We would also like to extend the invitation to North American colleges and universities to arrange an event together with our department or to co-host one of our already programmed events, free of charge. We ask that you please get in touch with us directly at least six months in advance so that we can plan accordingly. You can sign up to receive our program calendar by contacting info@amerikahaus.de.
